Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombies
Graveyard Keeper 2 gives worker zombies individual skill progression, ties stronger development potential to red-skull corruption, and clearly separates the Keeper’s Possession-Free Zombies from hostile undead.
Worker vs hostile zombies
| Keeper’s workers | Hostile undead | |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Workforce and, later, armed/trained troops | Terrorize the Town; the combat threat |
| Mark | Possession-Free Zombies, marked as the Keeper’s | Not the Keeper’s workers |
| Skills | Individual skill progression | Not described as a player-trained skill tree |
| Corruption | Red-skull potential improves development | Not used here as a player crafting lever |
| Workplace | Semi-automatic underground factories / Town Workshop | Battlefield / Town defense problem |
From corpse to worker
ol class="flow">Red skulls and corruption
The May devlog says each friendly zombie has individual skill progression and that higher corruption / red-skull potential allows better skill development. Players can increase corpse corruption using corrupted body parts and corruption embalming before creating worker zombies. That is the entire numeric story available before launch: direction of the lever, not the thresholds. A screenshot that happens to show “4” and “7” skulls on one named worker is not a published table of breakpoints.
Why red skulls are not a Graveyard Keeper 1 leftover query
Search data for the original game is polluted with skull-count item queries. In Graveyard Keeper 2, red skulls are a sequel development lever for worker quality, not a license to republish original-game corpse min-max guides. The May text is directional: more corruption / red-skull potential, better skill development. It does not say how many skulls make a “god zombie,” whether white skulls still exist as a separate axis, or whether embalming is a three-step recipe. A useful pre-release page says that clearly and then shows the official skill UI so players can see that workers are individuals.
Possession-Free is the other word players need. The Keeper’s zombies are marked. Hostile undead are not that workforce. If the Town is being terrorized, that is the combat population, not a bug in your factory assignment. Treating every zombie sprite as interchangeable is the fastest way to misread the sequel.
Factory roles
Friendly zombies operate semi-automatic machines in underground factories. The September 2 devlog names conveyor-belt factories. An official PlayStation screenshot labels a production hall Town Workshop. Publisher material also names hearts, bones, brains and skin as harvestable decayed materials feeding the wider production loop. None of that becomes a best-zombie tier list.
Body materials without a recipe list
tinyBuild’s August release says players can gather hearts, bones, brains and skin. That sentence is here because players ask what corpses are for. It is not a crafting tree. Combined with official harvest language — flora, fauna, human remains — you already know the sequel still wants you to process the dead. Combined with corruption embalming, you know some of that processing happens before a worker is made. Quantities, stations and “best corpse” layouts wait for launch.
Army and battle role
Official store copy says combat includes arming and training undead troops. The September 2 devlog names zombie battles. Workers and soldiers share a species in the fiction; they are not proven to share one stat sheet. See Combat for towers, fortifications and crafted gear.
What a player can actually plan before launch
You can plan to treat workers as individuals, because the May UI and May text both say they have personal progression. You can plan to care about red-skull corruption before reanimation, because the devlog names corrupted body parts and corruption embalming as the tools for that. You can plan a factory floor, because underground machines, conveyor-belt factories and a Town Workshop hall are documented. You can plan to keep hostile undead out of that mental model, because Possession-Free is an official distinction. You cannot plan a skill-point spend, a “best corpse” spreadsheet, or a troop loadout. Those plans would be fan fiction.
That split is the whole point of a pre-release zombie page. The sequel has already told you more about labour than a typical management sequel has any right to tell you in May. It has not told you the numbers. A page that withholds the labour model until launch is hiding the useful part. A page that invents the numbers is hiding the honest part.
What is already useful
- Possession-Free workers are distinct from hostile undead
- Individual skills and red-skull corruption are official
- Corrupted parts and corruption embalming exist as pre-reanimation tools
- Factories, conveyor belts and Town Workshop are documented at the evidence layer stated above
Still waiting for launch
- Exact red-skull thresholds and skill unlock costs
- Best-zombie tiers and combat stats
- Recipe quantities for embalming or body parts
